How Travel Plug makes money — in plain English.

We’d rather tell you up front than have you wonder. This page explains every way Travel Plug earns, where our recommendations come from, what our AI can and can’t do, and what we don’t promise.

1. How we make money

Travel Plug earns in four ways. That’s the whole list.

  • Paid products. Our $7 72-Hour Pass, one-time AI travel guides, and the Travel Plug Black Card membership.
  • Affiliate commissions. When you book or sign up through some of our links, the partner may pay us a commission.
  • Advertising. Tourism businesses can pay for placement on Travel Plug. See section 4 — this one matters most, so we’ve given it its own section.
  • Creator referrals. Approved creators can earn a share when someone they refer becomes a paying member.

We do not sell your personal information.

2. Affiliate & partner links

Some links on Travel Plug are affiliate links. If you click one and book, subscribe, or buy, the company on the other end may pay us a commission.

The short versionIt costs you nothing extra. You pay the same price you’d pay going direct. We only get paid if you actually complete a booking or signup.

This is a material connection under the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidelines, and we disclose it here, in our site footer, and on the pages where those links appear.

Affiliate commissions never change the price you pay. They can, however, influence which categories we build out first — so read section 6 for how we keep that honest.

Where a category shows “not yet active,” no affiliate link is live and we earn nothing from it. We update this table as partners go live.

4. Paid placement & advertising

Travel Plug sells advertising to tourism businesses. Because one of those products can affect what our AI recommends, we want to be especially clear about it.

Read this oneA business can pay for priority placement, including being surfaced earlier when travelers ask our AI Concierge. Paid placement is advertising — not an editorial recommendation, and not a ranking earned on merit.

Our commitments on paid placement:

  • Paid placement is labeled where it appears, not only disclosed on this page.
  • Paying does not let a business remove, outrank, or suppress an honest warning about it.
  • We decline advertising from businesses we believe are unsafe or deceptive.
  • Paying does not buy a positive review, a rating, or a claim we don’t believe.

If you ever see a recommendation on Travel Plug that looks paid and isn’t labeled, tell us and we’ll fix it.

5. AI-generated content

Travel Plug’s search results, city intel, AI Concierge answers, and guides are produced by artificial intelligence.

AI is fast and genuinely useful for getting the read on a city. It is also capable of being confidently wrong. Being straight with you about that:

  • Details go stale. Venues close, move, change hours, and change prices. A guide written today can be out of date next month.
  • AI can make mistakes. Names, prices, hours, and addresses may be inaccurate or outdated.
  • Verify before you go. Check a venue’s official listing and call ahead before you build a night around it.
  • The live Concierge can search the web for current information; our written guides work from the model’s existing knowledge and are not live-updated.

We treat AI output as a knowledgeable starting point, not the final word, and we ask you to do the same.

6. Editorial independence

Our recommendations are meant to be the honest read. Where we have a financial interest, the rules we hold ourselves to:

  • A commission never turns a bad recommendation into a good one.
  • We tell you about tourist traps, scams, and areas to avoid even when there’s no money in it — that’s the entire point of Travel Plug.
  • Safety information is never for sale.
  • Paid placement is labeled as paid.

7. Travel information & safety

Travel Plug provides general travel information and safety-minded guidance. It is not a guarantee of safety, and it is not professional advice.

  • Conditions change. Neighborhoods, laws, and local risks change faster than any guide.
  • Always check your government’s current travel advisories before you travel.
  • Follow local laws. Some things that are legal at home are not legal elsewhere, and the consequences can be severe.
  • Use your own judgment. You know your risk tolerance better than an app does.
  • We are not responsible for travel insurance, visas, entry requirements, vaccinations, or border decisions — verify those with official sources.

8. Adult (21+) content

Travel Plug covers nightlife honestly, and for some destinations that includes adult venues and adult-oriented tourism where it is legal and relevant.

  • This content is intended for adults 21 and over.
  • Coverage is informational. Mentioning a venue is not encouragement to visit it.
  • Laws vary enormously by country and by region within a country. What is legal in one place is a serious crime in another. Confirm local law before acting on anything.
  • Travel Plug does not facilitate, broker, or arrange any illegal activity, and we do not knowingly cover venues involved in coercion or exploitation.

9. Creators & Share & Earn

Travel Plug runs a creator referral program. Approved Black Card members can earn a commission on qualifying paid referrals.

  • No income is guaranteed. Results depend on effort, audience, consistency, and program terms. Most people earn little or nothing.
  • Creators promoting Travel Plug must disclose that they may earn from their link — clearly, and near the link, not buried.
  • Referrals only count when tracked through approved Travel Plug links or codes.
  • Commissions can be reversed on refunds and chargebacks.
  • Fraud, spam, self-referrals, fake reviews, or misleading income claims void commissions and end participation.
  • Program terms, commission rates, and eligibility can change.

If a creator sent you here, assume they may earn if you subscribe — that’s how the program works, and they’re required to tell you so.

10. Third-party services

Travel Plug links to independent companies — booking platforms, eSIM providers, tour operators, transfer services, and others. We don’t control them.

We are not responsible for their pricing, availability, terms, quality, coverage, cancellations, refunds, customer service, or outcomes. Your booking is between you and that provider, under their terms. Read them before you buy.

11. Purchases & payments

Travel Plug digital products — the $7 72-Hour Pass, AI guides, and Black Card membership — are sold by Watson Legacy Group LLC. Payments are processed through Whop.

Membership plans renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time through your Whop account. Refund terms are shown at checkout and in our published policies. For anything about a charge, email us — we’d rather sort it out directly.
